From my garden 20 km north of Brisbane I was watching an approaching cloud cell that looked like it might produce lightning as Im an avid Storm Chaser. I was disappointed to see the cloud rapidly disperse as it approached. Then to my west and farther north than the cloud I was observing I saw the object just hovering. At first i thought it was a lenticular cloud but it was too small and too solid looking and it didn't fit in with the surrounding cloud. The sun was just dipping below the horizon rapidly and as the seconds passed the object become more silhouetted against the orangey sky. I told my wife and mother in law and they both sighted the object. I quickly ran to get my camera but the light was fading rapidly so it was hard to get a good focus point. At this point the object moved north slowly for a few seconds then disappeared. I don't know whether it accelerated away or disappeared where it was.
