My son and I were out in the backyard taking pictures of the lunar eclipse when I noticed a bright white light approaching from the south. This is normal we live between Interstate 5 and the Cowlitz River and typically have numerous airplanes and helicopters over the house daily.

This light was different. The object appeared to be at an altitude of 500 to 1000 feet and have a heading of 355 degrees. The object had no navigation lights and made no sound, and looking at it from directly below it appeared the main light was in the shape of a double bladed axe with the points connected by a thin halo like light making the object appear round.

Looking at the object with a naked eye it look to be the size of a quarter. My son and I watch the object for about a minute in total. I was able to get several pictures using my Motorola smartphone the picture is at night and I use the flash, the second picture is the negative of the first and shows the object to be round and shows a aura of heat emanating from around it. We saw no other aircraft flying at the time before or after.
